CEO Hyo-Soon Song was awarded a presidential prize in "Renewable energy Award 2013" on 18 Oct. in COEX.
Eco Energy is a small-giant corporation in renewable energy field and was established in 1989 and listed on KOSDAQ market in 2007. Eco Energy is operating this 50 MW power plant in Sudokwon Landfill, Incheon City where over 15,000 tons of waste are treated everyday. and electricity generation is approx. 36 million kw per month and supplied to 180 thousands households near that area. As methane gas which is produced from landfill is used as a generator fuel, cost of sales is “0”. This is why the company is called as “digging gold from wastes”.
“We sell electricity generated from methane to KEPCO everyday and it makes approx. 170 thousand dollars everyday” says CEO Song.
Eco Energy also operates a biogas as vehicle fuel station in Seonam area. The company has its own technology to upgrade methane gas that are produced from WWTP to high quality and use for CNG vehicles.
Finally, CEO Song was awarded a grand prize from the President of Korea in “Renewable energy Industry Development 2013“. CEO Song is also looking for several projects in Africa and China.
